of the country, wood was the primary source of energy in the US.
Coal overtook wood in 1885. Oil overtook wood by 1915 Oil overtook coal in 1950. Energy from hydropower overtook wood in about 1968. Nuclear overtook wood in 1972 Nuclear overtook hydro by 1973. |
